Royal Mail redirection from UK to Aus

How time flies! Has anyone managed to renew with Royal Mail beyond two years?

Edit: Found a thread from 2009 which discusses this: http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=613348

Thanks. I telephoned the number on the "Your redirection is coming to an end..." letter and they said that if I send a fax to them explaining why I need to renew it then they'll "see what they can do...". It's a bit of a rigmarole so I'll sort out the last remaining address changes before the next renewal falls due.

Update: I telephoned them again a few minutes ago to check if they'd received the fax but the altogether more helpful call centre operator went straight into renewing it for the next 12 months. Job done!

The royal mail will not allow you to extend beyond 2 years.

We can offer you a service that helps, please check our vendor forum here

Sorry, but when I telephoned Royal Mail, I was able to renew for another 12 months.

in good faith.... we all know that phoning any part of the government, civil service, we end up getting alot of incorrect information,

I have no doubt that you were told that you can renew.... but the fact is that laws say it is only for 2 years maximum... so when it hits the sorting floor it will be rejected...
I dont want to play tit4tat, but these are the rules.... maybe people can get local sorting offices to forget them, then good luck....

It's actually the individual postie that redirects the mail, they have a folder of redirection stickers and a list of redirections on their rounds. They will just follow what is put in front of them, especially as no one postie owns a round anymore IE: For the most part they wont know how long the redirection has been in place, only the customer service people truly know that answer... or the people with the computer information

So if you can get the customer service people to put one in place, then the Postie will just follow his instructions.

Aus post worker of 18 years :)

I'd personally get my mail sent to a relative and have them just write the new address on the individual items and resposted.... For the most part that will get through untaxed.... Or Aus Post wont bother collecting the UK tax sticker money..... Mind you it will come seamail so could take 8 weeks to get here....You'll probably get one in 50 marked RTS..
