Default Round the world flight tickets

Hi just wanted to know has anyone used a rtw ticket to get to oz. We were hoping to have a hol on the way there, stopping twice before arriving in Brisbane then use the final leg back to the uk for a hol before the 12months were up. Prices appear on par with a one way ticket or is this wishful thinking on my part. Any advice /experience appreciated.

I've been thinking along the same lines but with more stopovers. The only problem is you would need a one way ticket to get back to Australia. Possibly Air Asia will be the cheapest for the one way back to Australia portion.

Try the planner here:

http://www.thegreatescapade.com/

The Great Escapade is normally a little cheaper than the 2 other main options as it only includes Singapore Airlines, Virgin Atlantic & Air New Zealand. That's more than enough however to get you decent stops in Asia, North America & the Pacific Islands.

Often with RTW's there are rules about backtracking - or doubling back on yourself' so generally you must cross the Atlantic and the Pacific.

We're thinking about this too. If all goes well with the house sale we don't want to stay with friends here so are planning on New York, LA, Hawaii and then hiring a camper van for a couple of weeks, may be more in NZ before flying into Perth. The travel agent at Oz travel said that they'd book the Perth to UK leg for the end of the year which we can use or not depending on what is happening.
