Aria etc are all nice... but the best place ive been to in Sydney was on a seaplane out of the pier next to catalina's? (catalina's is overpriced !) but this deal was a seaplane ride out to a restaurant for the afternoon for lunch and then a flight back. It was v.expensive 400 $ each or so (!) but it was outstanding experience.

I guess if you intend on marrying her it may be worth it

+ 1. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary by flying up to the Cottage Point Inn and it was absolutely fabulous. Mind you, we would have gone to the Berowra Waters Inn if it was open at the time. Saving that one for another time.

BS - the Cottage Point Inn is open for lunch on Monday. Go for that, you won't regret it :-)

We are staying at Four Seasons near the harbour, even the hotel's own fine dining restaurant is closed on Monday!
Don't panic - IIRC Prime is a separate restaurant, closed off. We had a wander down there a few months ago when we were having a dirty oops I mean romantic weekend at the Westin (company treat ) but I mostly eat fish so couldn't find anything that took my fancy.

The seaplane experience could alternatively have been to Jonah's. Have heard great things about both that and Cottage Point.

If you don't mind going further afield, Lochiel House is really lovely. I got an email saying they're closed for a while soon as they're off to Bali to get married but I think that's in May.

I will look into Lochiel House and also these seaplanes, that certainly is something a bit different.

I eat lots of fish too and I only have steak about once a year. Husband is very pleased with my current birthday restaurant, he could eat steak every week.

Thanks guys, some good suggestions. Aria is def one I was thinking about.

Someone also recommended to me the BoatHouse at Blackwattle Bay. Anyone been there before and want to give a second opinion?

I really like Quay - there wasn't a boat in when we went - I think I preferred it to Aria.

I am trying to remember the name of the place we went for our last anniversary, it was the best food we have had since being here, when I remember I will post it.

Another lovely place is Icebergs. I really like it for lunch because it has such great views and the food is excellent.
