Default Road bike dismantle or no?

Hi everyone,

So robinson are coming in a couple of weeks and are taking my road cycle amongst other stuff.

Is there any advice on preparing the bike for them? I have cleaned it throughly.

Should i remove the seat, or handlebars or flip the handles around? it is going into a bike box?

Thanks everyone.

best ask the shippers I guess, they'll be the ones who know if they will have a bike box to hand

Usually if you're shipping a bike then the pedals should come off as well as the handlebars as this makes it narrower and easier to pack.
This is a fairly good guide that should protect your bike

Robinson's will tell you want to do. I used them. From memory I needed to do nothing with my road bike. It travelled fully assembled. If you are insured then I wouldn't worry.

We have just had our bikes shipped over, all we got advised to do was to let the tyres down and make sure the whole of the bikes were immaculately clean, no mud on them whatsoever.
The relocation guy even advised us to blacken the tyres so they looked new, which we did.
When our stuff had arrived the bikes had been picked out for a check-up, but got passed without any problems.

Cheers for the advice re blacken tyres. Very good point. I cleaned it pretty well the other day. Very frustrating experience!

Dont make it too new. They might think of hitting you up for tax on a new item.
