Return tickets

We are hoping to make the move in the summer and have started to think about our air tickets.. has anyone bought open ended return tickets with a view to using them within 12 months for your first trip home..

Somewhere I read that tickets from oz to uk are more expensive so wondered whether buying returns from uk each time we come home was viable or not..

Has anyone looked in to it?

:) Thanks

our tickets with Quantas where for a holiday originally but we are now using the to emigrate so we now have the return leg which we do not need, when i called them to advise and see what i should do they told me to ring when we are in Oz and advise that we will not be on that plane and ask for it to be left open and then we have 12 months to use it.

Re: Return tickets

Sounds like a plan..

With regards to our visas, I assume there won't be any problems leaving oz with a one way ticket...

Can you not sell the return leg tickets (transfer into another name?)
