Can anyone help?
we have been in perth for two weeks and have three weeks left on our short term rental. We are looking for long term renting in the woodvale, cuurambine, connolly, tapping areas.
Does anyone have any advice?
also, any advice on where to buy a good used car would be appreciated.
One last thing, does anyone have any advice on good senior schools? We have heard Woodvale,Ocean Reef, Joondalup Baptist and st Stephens are the best in these areas.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Over the last few nights I have been browsing the net, basically just checking out rented accommodation in various suburbs of Perth, I cannot believe how expensive it is just to get something half decent (something that doesn't resemble a tin hut with a kitchen that can fit one person in) for our family.
The prices I have come across are scandalous!
I guess it's due to popular demand and greedy landlords.
Are they not any decent areas left where a family can rent for a reasonable amount?
Gilly.

It's only going to get worse too:
Perth rents could hit $400 mark by year-end
"A leading property expert predicts tenants could be paying $400 a week for a typical Perth house by the end of the year as a new national report reveals, the city’s rents are increasing at the highest rate in the nation."

Plus you'll have to compete with loads of other families for the few decent rentals. I agree, it's scandalous.

They need to do a recheck, It's already $400 easily, the prices I have come up with so far (and i'm not talking about anything overly fantastic here) are between $400 and $600 and none of them had a pool, not that a pool is on my list of priorities, but at those prices you would have expected one.
In fact like you stated just finding an affordable rental in a decent area is looking like a real battle!
I hate getting ripped off it's one of my pet hates, there's nothing worse than greedy people but as they say what goes up must come down............at some point!

Market forces don't annoy me so much - I have quite a bit of faith in the market. What really gets me is the distortion of the market by real estate agents who constantly talk the rental market up (or have been since mid 2005) and any agencies which restrict the supply of land.

I'm looking at Subiaco....a little tiny house (with no garden) that would fit 1 cup and saucer in, is $850 per week. Unbelievable!!
