i will be in sydney my wife will be working at st goorge hospital (sydney) and we would like to live near by. does any one have any idea which is best area to live around st george. it doesn,t have to a working distance we can use also public transport before we can afford to our own car.

which is the best place and chiper

Take it you mean St George Hospital in Kogarah. Probably the best area to look at is Sutherlandshire which is to the south of Kogarah. If you go north you start heading into the city so rents increase. If you need public transport (not too sure by your post) look at Como, Jannali, Sutherland, Gymea, Miranda, Caringbah & Cronulla as they all have train stations on the same line as Kogarah. Think it takes about 30mins from Cronulla which the furthest out on that branch line.There is a train station in Kogarah about 5 mins from the hospital.
There are some new apartments available in Wolli Creek heading into the city, but there is not much to do in that area unless you are a plane spotter. Would not really recommend Rockdale or Kogarah itself as they are quite busy, noisy areas on the Princess Highway.
