Renting Brisbane with Dogs

Hi

Has anyone had experience of renting around Brisbane with dogs?

Is this possible or frowned upon?

What are the Australians like about dogs in general...do they have the pooper scooper inspectors like England?

There is nothing to stop you renting a property with dogs or any other type of pet as long as the person that owns the property is aware and will let you.
Some properties state that no pets are allowed, but that normally refers to apartment/unit/flat accomodation, regardless whether renting or purchased. However, some Body Corporates will allow you to keep birds, fish, small dogs/cats etc, but it is generally up to individual BC's rules in the building lived in. Never known anyone to have trouble with renting houses or acreage.

Alot of people have dogs. Regulations are now more strongly policed. For example, if your dog barks for more than six minutes in an hour, if the council receives a complaint from a nieghbour they normally send you a letter outlining the complaint. This sometimes leads to the problem of frivilous and vindictive complaints, if there are several dogs in the nieghbourhood. However these are only in the minority. Dogs have to be registered with the council and when walking be on a lead.

Also in Brisbane, (not sure of other areas) you can now be fined if you do not have plastic bags or a pooper scooper with you while you are walking your dog in public areas, as well as being off the leash outside one of the "off-leash areas" in parks. These are regularly patrolled by council "dog squad" officers. These can be identified by the type of vehicle they drive, ute with canopy (with spinning air vents on top and grills over windows).
