renting before you arrive, Perth
Any experiences of renting a house before you actually get there?
We're looking at the nothern suburbs of perth, on advise from previous threads, and having a baby with us we want to have as much in place for when we arrive.
Any ideas?

There have been tons of posts about renting before arrival, the general consensus seems to be it is difficult as many agents simply will not get back to you if you e-mail via the web sites for more information. Seems they don't need to so much competition for decent rentals
Seems alot of people have taken holiday style rentals (very short term) and then looked when they get there.
Also I would think that if you sign a 6 or 12 month lease and it is not exactly what you expected when you get there you will be a little stuck, especially with a little one.

I would strongly suggest you don't rent somewhere before seeing it. I have known a couple of families do this and they've come unstuck.
The Aussie real estate agents tend to glam up property descriptions something awful. Once you've signed a contract for 6/12 months do you really want the hassle of getting out of it if the property is not all the agent cracked it up to be?
I would suggest you get a short term holiday rental and look around for yourself. Try www.getsettledinperth.co.uk these are friends of ours and the houses are very nice and clean.
Good luck to you.

It is possible to sign up for a 6 or 12 month lease before you arrive in Perth, but you would have to be very well informed before you do so. It is very common for rental properties to have been used as such for many years and not been updated in any way for a number of years, this makes for plenty rentals that you wouldnt put your dog in let alone a baby. Once you have signed that lease there is no getting out of it without it costing you a fortune. We recommend fully equipped short term rental properties for at least 2 weeks, longer if you don't know the areas and don't have any help "on the ground". This will allow you time to decide which area you prefer to be in and to track down a decent unfurnished rental, you still though, wont have sussed which parts of which suburbs should be avoided!
Remember too that if you are shipping your furniture you will probably prefer to live somewhere furnished until this arrives!
We offer a large choice of properties throughout the northern suburbs (and beyond). You can browse them via this link http://movetoperth.com/rental/rentalbrowse.html

Hi all,
Some lovely properties on the sites mentioned but mostly in the north. Anyone know of any short term rental properties in the southern burbs with pools?
Thanks

Hi Ace
South of the river is always a problem for furnished rentals, we have a few, studios and apartments in Freo, a gorgeous home in Madora Bay, we will have another 2 in Rockingham coming on soon and also 1 in Dawesville, there's also the possibility of 1 in Leeming, none have pools i'm afraid, the best i can do is a spa (sorry).
When are you arriving Ace, i'll see what i can come up with. PM me if you like.
