renting
i have read loads of posts on renting for the first six months and also loads on you should always give it 2 years before deciding if oz if for you or not...
if you are pretty serious that its going to work for you and your prepared to give 100% commitment...is it wrong to buy straight away..
we only found one place we thought we liked and are pretty sure thats where we want to go...
any thoughts,,,???
thank you.

Re: renting
Hi Aston man
We bought our house and moved into it within 5 weeks of arriving. We have no regrets about doing that. We had been in a rental property in Singapore for a year and wanted somewhere to feel like home again.
If it feels right them go for it!!! But, do look to the future too. Although we love where we live, we do find it a bit remote at times and spend an awful lot of time in the car now the kids are a bit older and have various activities they want to be involved with.
Good luck
Rudi

Re: renting
We arrived on 31st August and moved into our new purchased house on 8 December - no regrets at all.

Re: renting
We were only 3 months . It was important for me to lay down some roots, make a place my own and start planning for the future. I hated living in a rental, I couldn't relax or let the kids relax .
So buying quickly has suited us

Re: renting
Making a mistake buying is a big cost to sell up & move, so have been renting since arrived. The suburb we really want to move to was not even considered when we first moved here, and places up at the top of the list have slipped down a bit.
The plan was to rent for a year (baby born 6mths ago), it is now 13mth in this place and getting really fed of it (being in rented place & the house search).
We are more aware of what there is, however nothing has come up that we want that has not gone for a ridiculous amount over expectation. We are also looking at building, but even land prices are going for what we thought two years ago we could get a decent house for.
It is a big financial decision, and it is a personnal decision. If you are informed & feel it is right for you, what does it matter what others think or do?
