To Renth - Perth Recce

Hi

Understand from a previous thread you did a recce of Perth recently, schools/area's etc. I'm doing it myself in November, any pointers you can give on your findings or experience would be much appreciated

Cheers Finch

No problem, did you read my earlier posts with links to my holiday snaps? Is there anything specific you want to know over and above what I already said?

Here you go - repost:

We've been here on a recce mission for the last 3 weeks.

Perth is as great as it has ever been (this is my 3rd visit over the
last 14 years). I've already been offered a job on a cray boat but
have turned it down as I get seasick and don't fancy cutting the
dorsal fins off stil living tiger sharks.

We have been researching the same suburbs you are asking about and
have come up with the following conclusions:

Hillarys: Yes, good primary and secondary schools, although the
secondary school is private and seemed a bit "stiff" - I'm not coming
out here for my 3 kids to be over disciplined, they can join the army
for that. Nice houses

Sorrento: Yes, much like Hillarys. Nice Houses. I think the secondary
school is catholic (Sacred Heart).

Ocean Reef: Yes, good primary and secondary schools although the
secondary school apparently has a reputation for drugs. It seemed OK
to me.

Mullalloo: Yes, nice houses and beach.

Kallaroo: No, a bit run down.

Mindarie: No, too far out, not very good beaches (rocky to the north
and comaratively hard access to the south - still paradise compared to
any beach in the UK though), expensive houses. Just too new plus I'm
not moving out here to be surrounded by Brits!

Rule of thumb, left of Marmion Avenue OK, right of Marmion, less OK,
but I guess a lot has to do with your resources.

Thanks, I'd not seen it and it was great to see such lovely places. I might post up our memories of Adelaide and the Great Ocean road.
