Default Rentals Sunshine Coast

Just read a thread from sbuk said that rentals are as rara as rocking horse s--- on sunshine coast. Ido hope this is not true? Will be in Caloundra from 11 nov and will need to find somewhere to live within 3 weeks.Alittle assurance from anyone out there would be nice. There seems to be plenty on ourbribane.com. Anyway a little assurance would help.Would be looking tgo pay between 400 to 500 dollars a week.
Cheers in advance for any helpful replies

Hi Raven
The best website to look up is realestate.com.au and under rental properties. I would put in caloundra, kings beach, golden beach & pelican waters as they are all around caloundra and give you a good choice of older and newer style houses. If you wanted to look a bit further afield there mooloolabla, minyama and buddina really nice places along the coast.

hope that helps

You have an advantage, most locals would consider 400 to 500 a week for rent out of the budget, so yes there is stuff around that price.

Rents are supposed to have gone up 20% in last year due to low vacancy rate, less than 1.5% across qld. Some places around brisbane are really bad, couple of shires are housing people in tents on the showgrounds, completely amazing as summer temps and storm seasons about to start

Hi...I wasn't trying to freak anybody..BUT 3 days this week and a day or 2 last week the local paper ..Sunshine Coast Daily (checkout their site) wrote about the lack of rental property on the coast, now that might of been aimed at everyday Joes who dont have $350/400 p/w (which is bloody rip off prices anyroad especially, for Caloundra) and more for everyday rents?? I dont know, but I know for a fact that rental lists around the central S/C area are very limited at the mo!

HI just got a rental myself and, yes it was a bit of a nightmare. The trick is to look on realestate.com EVERY day and get in with any real estate agents and tell them to give you the nod on anything coming up. We found only 2 suitable houses (which met location needs and budget of around $300/wk)) and were one of many viewing the property on the inspection day. We were disheartened by this but turned out to be first choice on both and got offered both. It probably helped though that we are a mid 30's couple with no kids or pets.

Be quick with your applications, take lots of photocopies of things in preparation, ie current bank statement,, job references, latest bills (even from England).

If you put the effort, you WILL find something- don't fret

Sunshine Sarah
