Rentals and the grass?
Do you have to cut it, and will the landlord supply the tools? ... or is it for you to sort out ?!
I ask as I have a decent petrol mower and strimmer here in the UK, but with how clean it'll have to be to take into Oz, I don't plan on taking it right now, but maybe it'll be worth spending a few hours trying to get it spotless ?! What do ya reckon? Cheers. |

Re: Rentals and the grass?
Most rentals in my area, you do have to do it yourself. Unless you agree otherwise in the rental agreement.
For an idea on Mower costs see Choice.com.au where they quoted: Test results for 11 four-stroke petrol-powered catcher lawnmowers priced from $299 to $699. and You can get a good petrol lawnmower for less than $400 We bought ours from Bunnings, not much over $300 I think. |

Re: Rentals and the grass?
HI we pay an extra $5 a week for gardeners included in the rent.
They are worth every cent and the main thing being I have heard about people not getting their bonds back because of the gardens and lawns not being up to scratch :scared: in the eyes of the real estate... they haven't got a leg to stand on if it's been taken out of your hands and a gardener has been hired by them ;) Louise |
Re: Rentals and the grass?
If you've got a good one, bring it.
Rentals vary - some have grass-cutting included and some don't. We have to do our own and I tried to get someone in to do it and after 4 weeks gave up trying. I could not get anyone to come and cut the grass so I had to go out and buy a mower in the end (when the grass in the front garden was tickling my chin when I got out the car :D). I bought a fairly cheap petrol mower for just shy of $400. |
Re: Rentals and the grass?
Why are petrol mowers so popular?
Had a look in Bunnings and they only had one and that was out of stock. Can understand if you have an acre and would need a really long lead but as most blocks are from 500 to 800 and most of that is house why not have electric? Our rental has a mower we can use, its petrol but the garden is only 20m X 15m, seems like overkill to me. Kevin |
