Rental query !!

Our 6 month rental lease is up mid january, building out own house which will be ready may/ june. Obviously don't want to pay more rent than we need to, so phones estate agent who said it could only be a minimum of another 6 months and will contact owner to see if we can stay. We thought that once u had been in the rental for 6 months , then u didn't need to take the full 6 months again , that u could do it on a month to month basis.
Any input much appreciated, Thanx
Fiona.

Dpeends on the owner and the agent I guess - some might do month by month; when we left our last place the owner was going to redevelop it, and was willing to do week by week till we found somewhere else, if necesasry.

It's up to the owners how long they want to lease out the property for.
Maybe if you take out the 6 month lease you might be able to get someone to take over the last month or so if your house is ready. I tend not to believe builders when it comes to completion dates, so you may even need the whole 6 months if your house isn't completed.

Yep, I think its up to the owner/agents. We took out an initial 6 month lease, and then they were quite happy for us to pay week by week until our house was completed. Just had to give them 2 weeks notice.

it's entirely up to the owner/agent in my experience unless written differently in the initial contract (even then there will probably be a get out clause)
you can always ask to do monthly, but this might leave you open to rent increases at any time

Hi Fiona, we have 2 rental properties and I dont think we would be to keen to rent on a month to month basis. The minimum we have let others sign for is 6 months.
