Hi
Most rental agents will not rent a property to you until you have seen it, this is why most people take out short term furnished accommodation for 2 - 4 weeks until they can find somewhere to rent long term.
For short term rentals it would depend on which state you are going to but for Brisbane try: http://www.brisbane-relocations.com/joomla/ or http://www.goldcoastrelocations.com.au/ or if your heading for another state try http://www.rentalsinoz.com

For long term rentals and to get an idea of prices for different suburbs take a look here: http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin...=bhp&t=ren&cu=

Hope this helps
Kate
