Renewing Australian passports overseas
Recently applied at the local embassy for both kids and two days ago I got the call to pick up the new passport. Something didn't seem right so I confirmed whether they mean one passport or both.
Turns out just one is ready. Seems a bit weird as both applications were handed in simultaneously. Does this happen a lot of is it just the dumbest of luck where maybe one of those passports happened to be the last one produced on the day? Where do they make them anyway? Centrally in Australia just like the UK does nowadays? A few embassies around the world? Most embassies? |
Re: Renewing Australian passports overseas
The only Australian embassy in the world that can produce passports in-house is the High Commission in London and even there the majority are produced in Australia. They produce some locally for urgent applications. Probably just the post affecting you.

Re: Renewing Australian passports overseas
Even in Australia we applied for two passports on the same day on line and took the forms to the Post office for final processing and pics. Hubby got his passport before mine. Standard processing though not express. I rang after a week of him getting his passport to be told, yes it has been approved and waiting to be printed. It came 10 days after OH one arrived, just in time! |

Re: Renewing Australian passports overseas
Ram, thanks for the info, 2nd passport still not issued but I'll wait for it patiently.
Money, unfortunately not at present. :) Currently roaming the old continent and don't really have any place I could see myself settling down in for the next 10 years. Might have to check out Tenerife in case I'm missing a hidden gem here... ;) |
