Default Renewable Energy - Mining - WA

I have recently graduated with an MEng in Renewable Energy and have applied for a Oz visa. I am planning on moving to WA. I was wondering if anybody knew what the renewable energy scene is like there especially regarding jobs, also do you think there would be any jobs in the mines for a renewable energy engineer graduate?

You are probably asking in the wrong place. This is the immigration section, for visa related stuff and many people stop reading in here once they get their visas and make the move.

You would be better off asking about job opportunities in the main Australia forum as more people will see your thread there. A mod can move it for you.

Hi Erukus

The Climate Institute, an independent Australian research organisation, recently undertook a study of renewable energy opportunities in WA to 2030.

The Institute says that by 2030, the amount of Western Australia’s electricity produced from renewable energy sources will increase from around 8% today, to 37%, with thousands of new jobs being developed. While many of these are in the construction and manufacturing sectors, the R&D sector is also poised to expand exponentially.

Already, a number of RE technologies, particularly large-scale solar and geothermal, are at the early stages of commercialisation in Western Australia, while others, such as wave energy, are still in the R&D phase, which of course will lead to excellent future employment opportunities for RE specialists.

Best wishes

OK cool thanks for the replies maybe a mod can move it then? Also I am quite interested in the mines as I have heard how much money people make out there I wonder if my degree would be worth anything to them!

I have done a search on SEEK after reading through some other threads seems like there is little in WA in renewable energy (apart from sales) especially for graduates. Maybe there would be something in Mining!

Definitely loads of opportunities in the mining sector especially with the companies who are completing EPC contracts for provision of site power stations etc.

Have a look at this company

www.ctec.com.au

Might give you some ideas
