Renal Failure
Hello - first of all so sorry if this is the wrong forum, i just don't know where to go and ask this question.
My brother is living in australia on a student visa and all of a sudden their son got very ill and diagnosed of having a kindly disease, i don't know to be exact what's the issue there but the Dr's are starting dialysis today and have informed my brother that they will have to go for a transplant in future, their son is just 5 years and they are devastated. Their plan was to complete the studies and apply for the PR, their studies coming to an end at the end of this year and they are entitled to apply for the PR after that as i was told. but with this condition upon them, can they now apply for a PR visa? Their biggest concern is the wellbeing of their son, but if they are forced to move back to where they came from (Asia) their son's life is in danger as they wont get good quality medical treatment like here in AU, further they can't fund that amount of money from their to support the medical expenses, but if they remain here they can get the funding sorted. the other fact is that their son only speaks English so even if they are to move back it will be traumatic for the child because he does not understand nor speak any other language. Please help, you valuable advice is greatly appreciated. thanks PB |

George Lombard in Sydney or Peter Bollard are who are usually recommended for medical issues. I don't think that your nephew only speaking English will have any effect on an application though. Saying that, I'm no expert and you really need to consult with a migration agent |

Very sorry to hear that, not a good situationat all for a young kid. Definitely talk to one of the agents who specialise in medical conditions but he might be better to return home - what sort of insurance does he have as a student? Will that cover a prolonged period of expensive intervention? He may be better off getting that at home, and there is every likelihood that they will be rejected for PR because of the potential cost to the tax payer. |
