Got a quote off one of the removal firms the other day. We are hardly taking anything at all, yet the quote seemed high, have another coming round next week. Did anybody haggle with these people, and if so, did you have any joy.

our shippers qouted us a good price and the other dropped their prices to try and compete, one even knocked 500 pounds off to get our business

Depends what you mean by high? Have you looked at other threads on here about shipping?

I have read loads of stuff on here over the last few months, including the threads you mention. We basically feel ALL the stuff we are taking would fit into a box the shape of a family estate car, definitely no bigger than that. We arent taking any furniture, beds, bikes, computers, tvs or anything big at all. All we are taking are clothes, cds, dvds and pictures off the walls. We were quoted a grand for this small consignment. Our friends who went recently took everything but the kitchen sink and paid 1500.

Think mine would probably have fitted in an estate car, plus a large chair, I paid about a grand in the end, once you included minimal insurance. AQIS fees this end were extra.
Bet theres a lot of people on here would like to know who your friends used, if they took everything for that price. Lucky them.
