Removals insurance
Did I see a post recently where someone had managed to get a reduction in the %age charged for their marine insurance?
I'm currently negotiating with Crown and DB, and it looks as if this may be the main sticking point.

Drop them an e-mail with your name and address asking for marine insurance details, and they'll send you an info pack:-

It is Doree Bonner, we are using them, but using Letton Percival for our insurance at 1.53% - our payment to them was £161. We go in 20 days........

If you break one cup from a dinner service , you only get the value of one cup.

Re: Removals insurance
Yep, it's Doree Bonner - they beat Crown significantly on price, and if you add all the different bits in were reasonably competitive with EVL and someone else who's name escapes me. We got a good feeling about them so after a bit of haggling have decided to go with them.
Still undecided about the insurance, but as they're throwing in Pairs & Sets, Derangement, and Mould & Mildew within their 2.5% it makes it a little nearer the LP price, plus there's a zero excess as opposed to LP's £100.

Re: Removals insurance
Weve just been quoted £400 fully comp on £20,000 value of goods , thought this was a bit steep but it was by the actual removal company, so not a great surprise i suppose C x

Re: Removals insurance
That's 2%, so not bad really - check the small print though! Especially for the things I mentioned in my last post.

Re: Removals insurance
Just remember with insurance it's coverage rather than price that's most important.
No point in going for the cheapest option if it doesn't actually cover you for much, or the excess is so big you effectively double the premium when you make a claim.
Big.

Re: Removals insurance
Hi
This might sound like a stupid question, but if you pack yourself, you are not covered on insurance (we are using Britiannia) however if you use a company which is seperate to Britannia, will they still insure you even though it is britannia doing the packing?
We have just totted up our insurance and are already up in £800
So was thinking about just giving it all a miss, then they want extra for the mildew insurance and the Mechanical and Electrical derangment.
So will def go elsewhere if someone could answer on the above.
God how stressful is this, they even ask how many itmes of clothing we have.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks
Maddie
