Removal company recommendation

Hi everyone,

I need to move around half a dozen boxes worth of stuff from my house in the UK to Australia.

Can anyone recommend a good company to use?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Hi Jay, it might be worth you editing the title of this to include "UK to Au" so it's more obvious to people if they can help you. Also I'm not sure it's a removal company you need, if it's just a few boxes?

I recently moved Au to US and self packed and moved 10 tea chest sized boxes with a shipping company. Saved a fortune on removal companies and decided to spend the saving on getting them airfreighted so they arrived ahead of me.

Dunno but will be interested in the responses. We are looking at a Move Cube having heard good things about them from various forms. We are having to return to Australia and have accumulated a frightening amount of "stuff" in our 8 years here

Movecube seems to be the most popular option these days.

We were looking at using movecube to ship from London to Perth, the process would really work for us. However after reading the reviews on mymovingreviews wer'e now not sure.

I’m also in the market for a removal company. We’re moving from Leeds (UK) to Brisbane and have a quote from GB Liners so far. Seems a bit expensive and insurance on top is eye watering. Any suggestions for another quote and alternative insurer, much appreciated.

Thanks!

Try Letton Percival in Liverpool for the insurance. They specialise in sea freight removals insurance. Used them a few times for cover, never had to claim through them so cannot fully guarantee the services, but prices are far better than through the removal companies.

Re: Removal company recommendation

In the end we got three quotes for the sole use on a 20"container. All were similar in price in the end and nothing to chose between them, I dont think. The guys came to the house and packed everything in a day. The following day the container turned up at our house, all our contents were loaded, container sealed and sent off to Southampton to be shipped to Perth.
We only used about 3/4 of the space but liked the idea of our belongings not being loaded and unloaded into vans and in and out of depots multiple time before being shipped.

Somewhere im my posts way back, I have recommended a company we used to go from Stockport to Brisbane. You're welcome to search for it as I can't quite remember who it was.

The important point I wanted to tell you is to make sure you pay for DOOR TO DOOR if that's what you want. This also means to a local storage facility if you haven't got a permanent address. Make sure both companies look up the address of where you're going to end up and make it crystal clear. In our case the receiving end didn't want to go further than the metro area as they said they'd not quoted to go further. There was a bit of a bun fight between the two companies and we eventually had our stuff delivered as we were going 2 hours drive from the port. Australia is a massive country 33 1/3 times bigger than the UK. Get your instructions clear and in writing. Good luck all.
