Default relocation packages

Hi Guys,

Having been offered a job at townsville hospital as im sure some of you know, ive now been informed that they offer no relocation package. Im going out with the family on RSMS visa, hopefully by aug next year.
Having been informed of other peoples experiences, I have to admit im alittle disappointed. Am I expecting too much? Other people have been offered atleast a flight or the first months rent, Ive been told that after 6months it may be poss to apply for my one way airfare.
I dont want to sound greedy, thats not me at all and I know they all have their own things they can offer. But I would have thought they would want to give me something in return for moving my family across the world?
any advice or your experiences would be appreciated. Please dont think im being shallow as im not at all.

cheers

Trish

Normally you get airfares paid incl return flight once a year for your whole family, a month's salary (gross) for initial extra expenses in new home, 10% of salary (gross) for bringing new home up to same standard as your old one, free accomodation for at least 3 months (indefinite is usual for big companies), some days extra leave to manage the move, hardship allowance.

I guess it varies widely - I got flights for 4, 9m^3 shipping allowance, couple of weeks accomodation paid, a $1000 settling allowance (on production of receipts for stuff like car hire, telephone connection etc.), oh (nearly forgot) and a relocation consultant (to help find schools suburbs etc.). This is with a big worldwide firm who advertised the Oz job in the UK press.

blimey, for a company like a hospital (not small) you'd think they would want to make the transition as painless as possible, feel really gutted now.

I think mine and Don's experiences are probably at the top end of whats available and not standard.

i know the feeling as i work there and they don't provide anything. It's a nice place to work but that's it. I got absolutely nothing when i moved over. Talk to HR and see what you can do but don't get dissapointed. Lucy

amazing really isnt it, youd think they would want to attract people to their businesses especially in nursing where they are so short of specialised nurses.
