Looks like a nutcase has struck again.

Looks like a nutcase has struck again.
Flinders and Elizabeth St in Melbourne. I think that would be the busiest intersection for pedestrians in Melbourne.
Wonder what this nutcases background will be and where he found reason to act this way.

Damn, it does look like a terrorist incident after all. Early reports said a man was pulled out of the car unconcious..... Doesn't look unconcious to me.

Both my younger two are in there, very close by. They are both confirmed still at work though.

Quote from the press
"Man of Middle Eastern appearance"
Quotes from the police
"It appears to be deliberate"
"The motivation is unknown"

"We believe based on what we have seen that it is a deliberate act. The motivations are unknown," Victoria Police Commander Russell Barrett said.

New release says

So, at the moment, it looks like "nutcase" druggie is about right.
The incident is not being treated as a terror investigation “at this time”
“We understand that he is on a mental health plan and receiving treatment for a mental illness,” .... "is known for “historical assault matters” .... he has a “history of drug use as well as mental health issues.”

Looks like it really was yet another looney, looking for a reason or excuse to go off. Problem is many people refuse to see it that way.

At least not too many jumped up pointing the finger at the Islamic community. Whom I should add would be equally horrified, if it had come from within their ranks.
One can perhaps ponder the massive increase in citizens suffering a mind illness. It is in all developed countries but rather high in Australia.
I do have considerable thoughts on the matter but not for this thread.

They are all "lone actors" with "mental problems" though the drug habit is a new twist on a dog-eared page of the playbook. Isn't it amazing how every time one of these "incidents" happen, we get a fastest police investigation in history (how long did it take to crack this case, three hours?) and this time during that three hours they even constructed a psychological profile! Great work coppers.
The Government and their media sycophants are so cut-off from society that they think Australians are all low-rent bogans with the IQ of a pencil, who will start pogroms out of anger if they think it is a terrorist attack and therefore they need to blanket society with fake news to pacify the unwashed until then.
Truth is - despite yet another fastest police investigation in history, the authorities have no idea if this was a terrorist attack or not at this point, and as a result we are all being fed disinformation (which may or may not be correct).
The European governments and their media backstoppers do the exact same thing, and in fact created this playbook.

As predicted: "Lone actor with mental problems" has been walked back this afternoon by Turnbull to "nothing is being ruled out."
Also being reported that the driver was a refugee and was ranting about Muslims being mistreated prior to the attack.

As for thinking Australians are all Bogans with pencil thin IQ's, well all governments will attempt such an approach to quell a section of the community from retaliation. Attacks/abuse on Muslim British citizens were shown to have escalated every time after an incident.
Disinformation of one sort or another is a daily fact of life. Part may be 'disguised' advertising of a product and indeed fake news.
