Default RELOCATING WITH SMALL CHILDREN

hi

we are moving to perth early next year and we have 3 small children,
girl 6yrs, boy 4yrs and another girl 1 1/2.

has anyone got any advice on how to make it as easy for them as possible.
i dont like the idea of them missing home/friends, settling in at school and just generally how they are going to cope with the whole process.

thankx rosie.

Hi there we also off to Perth area on a 457 temp visa we have 7 children between 16 and 2 where abouts are you heading we thinking of Rockinham area OH job in canningvale.
Guess we feel the same as you but kids are very versatile and make friends easily they will soon settle in a new home and school we came from South Africa 14 years ago and our oldest settled really well so we doing it again miss the sun and the outdoor way of life.

Good luck to you

wow 7 kids? r u mad? lol

yeh i know kids are versatile, and i know if im positive and happy they will be too, its just we have never done anything like this before and reality is hitting me big time and im starting to get really neryous.

i will be fine once i get there!.

we have no idea what so ever of where we will be going in perth, we have a months accomodation when we arrive provided by my husbands new company, so i think i will try and get a feeling of the place and look round afew schools to try and get some idea.

Hubbies employer gave us an idea of areas to look at as we have limited funds and will be renting and need a good sized house so thats why we chose Rockinham its also really close to the coast and a bit on the quiet side which is what we wanted.
We know we are taking a risk but have to go on a 457 as finding it difficult to prove hubbies experience on a skilled visa he is a carpenter/joiner but doing CNC programming and machining in the shopfitting trade so its not on the skills list.
Employer seems really nice replied to his letter sent in July and agreed to sponser us and change to PR as soon as we can.
What visa are you going on ?
We just trying to find out about school fees and can't seem to get a consistant answer.
Oh well will keep on trying we determined to go no matter what.

Hi Rosie,
we too are heading for Perth early next year (hopefull Feb).We have 2 small children girl 6yrs and boy 2 1/2 .the little girl is really looking forward to going she says she,ll miss her friends but she loved it when we was out there earlier this year and cant wait to go.

we are heading to Northern Perth ,we are hoping to get a property in Butler as we really liked this suburb as it had evrything for young children i.e parks and play areas and 2 primary schools both of which seemed fantastic

Im sure they wont have any problem settling in they will be far too busy making new friends and going to the beach

we are going over on a temp sponsored visa, but are also going to get written confirmation that they will sponser us on a perm as soon as we get there.

i'll feel much safer on a perm visa.

hi jan- do you know if i will have to pay any school fee's? being on a temp visa.

we should try and stay in touch as the kids are around the same age, it would be nice having a couple of friends there when we arrive.

We moved over to Perth in May with our 1 year old son. My wife joined lots of mother & baby groups and has got to know some people very well. We've got another one due in April which should keep us busy

We're similar in that we're due in Perth in Jan. Our son will be 11 months and we have another due in May. Diane is hoping the mother and baby groups will be a good way for hew to meet people and socialise as she won't be working for a while...

That would be great Rosie if we could get together

as far as the paying for school fees I'm not 100% as wether or not you have to pay for school fees, we are going on a PR

but reading other threads i think it is the case that you have to pay but what they are im not sure

I only know on a PR you just pay a contribution which varies from school to school

do you know what part of Perth you are going?

Hi we are also moving just south of Perth (fingers crossed before xmas) we have a little lad who will be 3 in 4 weeks.
We are moving to Coogee on a 457 visa, its 5 mins south of Feo and 10 mins north of Rockingham.

We are all looking forward to it but will not know anyone there apart from Marvs employer and his family,

bit scary but so exciting.

Think kids will adapt easier than us.................we are all set in our ways, they will think its a great adventure and loads of fun.

HI Bec
Not heard of that area you will have to let us know what its like. We definatly want Rockingham area and hope to go end Feb thats provided the agent get their backside into gear. OH will be working in Canning Vale and his employer says Rockingham is nice although a little cheaper than other areas.

Cant wait

hi bec, will you be coming to our get together? lol

theres alot of us going over with small kids in the next few months, im thinking BBQ, WINE , BEER , and a beach as the setting.

we should all try n keep in touch as we are all going through the same thing.

jan- no jan,

i have no idea yet, we have a months accomodation from pauls employer, so i will be spending our first months or so looking round primary schools and houses close by them.

paul will be working right in the center of the CBD and i would like to live relatively close to a beach all though not on the sand!!!
a house with a pool is my biggest wish!!

well as my habby says 'im not going to move to australia and not have a pool'
