relocating from perth to east
we are relocating to brisbane from perth, has anyone used a good interstate relocation company ?? Just need to sell our house in ocean reef and we're off. Do the kids go back a year at school ??

HI, We are off over east to, the Gold Coast. We are just starting to do our research we also have a dog to relocate, we are selling in Quinns. Will pass on any info we find. Do you have jobs etc sorted over there?

Hi there - I'm interested to know too!! In Perth Scotland at the moment and hoping to move down under in August and are heading to Brisbane. However, so many folk have raved about Perth, WA and we were thinking about checking that out too?

You see, I think the problem is that the people raving about Perth are immigrants that moved there a decade ago when the houses were cheap-as-chips. I suspect that one of the reasons they're raving is that the house they bought then for $200k is now worth $600k. Perth's not cheap any more - in fact it's suicidally expensive - fine if you're working in the mining industry and taking home $180k a year, but for everyone else it must be a nightmare. My advice - never trust hearsay.

You see, I think the problem is that the people raving about Perth are immigrants that moved there a decade ago when the houses were cheap-as-chips. I suspect that one of the reasons they're raving is that the house they bought then for $200k is now worth $600k. Perth's not cheap any more - in fact it's suicidally expensive - fine if you're working in the mining industry and taking home $180k a year, but for everyone else it must be a nightmare. My advice - never trust hearsay.

Hi we are also moving from Butler Perth to the east hopefully in Jan. The info I read yes the kids start school a year later in Queensland. My youngest will not start kindy/preschool until 2010 full time. In Perth he would have started kindy 2 days a week in 2009.
There are lots of relocation firms around you just need to find the best one for you. The insurance is expensive I remember, we looked at moving a couple of years ago but ended up staying and having another baby.
Husband is booked on a flight in 2 weeks so go and look at a few areas in Brisbane.

We're renting here - we just don't want to pay the silly house prices being asked here - they are so out of line with incomes.
If I was starting again I'd say head east.
As I've said before, Perth is nice....but not that nice.

It is not only the price of the house that counts but all the other amenities a place can offer. Perth falls short of any of it. Perth is ok when you have small children, there is nothing much around you, just houses, houses and houses.
Baldivis and Secret Harbour, both about 55k south of Perth got a supermarket just now, 15 years after the first houses have been built!
