Default Regional Australia...

I've read a lot that moving to 'regional Australia' could stand you in better stead in terms of getting a visa and finding employment etc.....my question is, what exactly qualifies as regional?

Is there a specific set of criteria or should I just read regional Australia as rural Australia? (i.e. the back end of nowhere!!)

Would love to hear from anyone who has recently moved to a regional area, especially in Queensland.

Much obliged!

Have a look at Page 33 of http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1131.pdf which relates to the RSMS visa.

im looking at doing the same thing. im a bricklayer and was either looking at north queensland or western australia.

does anyone know what the work situation is like for bricklayers in these areas? i dont mind going anywhere in australia to be honest but these areas seem good.

i was looking at geraldton or the margerat river areas in western australia or mackay cairns area in northern queensland. i would consider northern nsw too.

any help would be brilliant to be honest just to see what trade is like at the moment and weather these are the right times to make a move. im single and 30 years old and have been to australia 4 times now.

would love to make it my home. thanks for the help guys.

If you can get a non regional visa then you should do so. The rules do make it easier to get a regional visa, but I think it is an oddity. IN four years on BE I have seen nothing to suggest it is easier to get work regionally, in fact most people find it much, much harder. Don't go for a regional visa unless you have to.
