It will work but will only play region 2 dvd's. Any dvd purchased in Aus will not play. Unless the manufacturer has a code which you put in to enable a multiregion mode.
You could always contact the DVD player manufacturer.
Hope this helps

Is region 2 for the UK? It will work in Oz but will only play the DVDs you have now, presuming region 2 is UK of course..
We have 3 DVD players, all staying in UK and we are buying multi region DVDs when we get to Perth so we can play current discs and future ones

Use the following link:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks
and then do a search to see if it can be made region free. It may well be as simple as a code entered via your remote control.
Also try a search on google and use a search expression such as
Cyberhome DL45 region free hack
or whatever your make and model of DVD player may be.
Most can be made region free very easily but some cannot. I wouldnt generally expect the manufacturer to provide that info as if it is protected most of them do it for a reason. They might though.
If you get stuck them PM me your make and model and I will have a scour around T'internet and see what I can find.

1. Open up Windows Notepad or similar text editor, and type in, or copy and paste the following text only:
TSDVDREG-2001-8939912-R0
2. Save the file as "CREGIN.TXT" (without the quotation marks)
3. Burn this single file to a CD-R using ISO 9660 Mode 1 format (not Joliet).
4. Insert the CD into the DV740H - note this is not a firmware flash, merely accessing a factory setting.
5. "R0" should appear in the bottom left of the screen - you now have a region-free player and one capable of handling RCE discs.
