Reg : Right time to Move
Dear All,
I have received my Grant on 01 July 2010. Now looking for a Job in Australia , I am doubtful that australian employer belive in telephonic interview ( over phone and Skyp or any video confressnsing utility) and release offer. In case if I could secure a approriate job for me before arriving Oz, please suggest what is the right time ( I mean month , I guess in Nov dec , there is no hiring happen) to hunt a I.T. (SAP specialist) job. Regards aahmed |
Re: Reg : Right time to Move
No disrespect but I'd spend more time working on your English language skills first.
If I was an employer hiring and saw your post I wouldn't even give your CV a glance. |

If I was an employer hiring and saw your post I wouldn't even give your CV a glance. The OP has skills that are probably very much in demand, less than perfect English skills are no big deal. I recently worked on a project with a Chinese guy with very challenged English, and I can tell you he was integral to our project and it would have been impossible without him. Some SAP people are client facing, others less so. Besides I'm sure the OP would have no problems communicating. For the OP I'd say you are correct, Nov/Dec/Jan is probably not the best time to be looking. Getting a job before arriving is not the norm but also not unheard of. If you're in a position to make a quick move then that might be the best option...or wait until after next Jan/Feb. |

I appriciate your honest accessment , I have already identified my poor written skills and included it (English improvement) in my ongoing development plan. If you have answered my actual question in addition , I would have help me more. Thanks again. |

Just being brutely honest aahmed. You will be competing for jobs with other people who speak and write better English. You may have the greatest skills to offer, but if your language skills are poor you will find it hard to get an interview.
"brutely honest" , In my opinion , I dont think so. "Hard" Yeah, you may be right , but I am sure I still can compete with native/better english speaker because I am not competing for an English teacher position , I know my Job and I am good at it. Thank you again. :) |

Thank you again. :) Put yourself in the shoes of an employer looking to fill a position. You have a bundle of cv's and covering letters in your inbox. All but one of them (in this case yours) have covering letters which are in perfect English. Which job applications do you think the employer will look at, and the ones he will bin? Regardless of wether you are good at your job or not you wouldn't even get an interview because the employer wouldn't even look at your resume. |

( I am working in Saudi Arabia where employee doesn't have even their passport with them after joining) other didn't ask me to join , may be due to my poor english;) So I decided I will search a job only when I am in Australia but came to know that employer hold hiring in Nov and Dec due to long vacations. I got your point and I am sure you got my point. Bye bye |
Re: Reg : Right time to Move
