Default Refused visa - not got in.

A serious point this.

Have you not got in or been refused a visa.

How did it feel and how did you get on with your life?

I cannot find any posts on this subject (have not found any although someone will probably post the link). A good reason for this post but I have not been refused myself - cheers James.

Hi all.

This is not a negative thread or meant to put anyone on a downer but just interesting to see a positive side of not getting in.
I mean its bound to be a little disapointing but "every cloud has a silver lining".

Think it would be hard to look for the good side of being refused a visa. Thing is, you would never know if "not going" was the right thing, and never find out if you could have had a better life.

Tough one.

I dont think there has been refusal at visa stage for any user on this forum (other than I think 1 or 2 very odd and specialised cases from memory). Simply put, if you meet the criteria, pass your skills test with the appropriate body, and your application is in order you are not refused a visa.

Very good reply that one and sorry to scare the others .

I suppose that people refused would "move on " and not use the forums anyway - cheers

According to my agent DIMIA isn't in the business of leading people on, and if you qualify, are in good health etc, there is no reason for being turned down.

heard of one a few weeks ago, although it may have been an old thread resurrected. they were refused on the grounds of his sons poor health. apart from time served in prison, poor health is about the only reason for not getting through as i understand it. then again some one will probably say other wise

I think you are absolutely right. I think people prefer to do any wound-licking in private. Also, a lot of applicants seem to use Migration Agents, and I suspect that the good Agents, like the ones who contribute to BE, probably weed out a lot of cases where to make an application would be futile because the experienced Agent can spot from a mile away that the applicant cannot meet one of the essential criteria for whichever type of visa they want. My guess would be that they probably spend quite a lot of their professional lives having to say gently but firmly, "You'd have no chance, so please don't set yourself up for a huge fall."

It would be interesting to hear from the Agents about this question.

It would be interesting.

I approached 1 agency that did not seem too interested in taking my case on (self-employed and a medical problem although that is finished and not on-going), yet another really went to town and put a lot of effort in and went the extra mile and came up with a case for "getting in" rather than "not getting in". They even found a Doctor in Sydney who would write an independant report on the characteristics of the illness I once had. They were the only ones who put themselves out. Obviously they want your buisness but they seemed to have a genuine interest in their work.

Impressed.

To my mind that's why DIMIA have a points test, if you don't meet it then don't apply.

As for Meds, if you know you have a serious medical problem, don't apply

Police checks, if you've been convicted etc, don't apply.

If one of the above applies, and you still go for it expect to fail.

There may be one or two other reasons that I can't think of at the minute but a the end of the day, you are paying for everything throughout so if you think you're not going to get a visa it's best to ask an agent their opinion. If they think there is no chance then chances are it's not going to happen.

I've seen a few on here who've been refused, usually they just go out with a whimper or some will go out with a BANG and a rant!!!!

Very well put.
There is always a test case with anything though . I am not going to disclose details but my case is pretty unusual so there will always be the exception to the rule. The agency searched high and low and there has never been anyone in my situation (its not special just rare). in this instance there is nothing to lose.
If I don`t get in I can rest on the fact I tried and that gives you peace of mind. I constantly hear people say how they wish they had tried, nothing wrong with that but if you tried and failed at least you know.

Hi

We were refused a visa just over 12 years ago now as one of our children is deaf. To say we were gutted is an understatement. Before we applied we checked with immigration to see if it would be held against us so it was a huge blow.

We carried on with our lives but I constantly looked for ways of trying again. In the end I found a way (student.....risky I know), and lo and behold she passed the medical this time.

We are now living the life we wanted all those years ago.
