Yorks to Melbourne is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Refrigeration and Airconditioning Mechanic

Has anyone retrained as a Refrigeration and Airconditioning Mechanic on a student visa? If so what is involved & what types of jobs are available?
I have seen some course details but they are very vague.
Any info will be appreciated.

Regards,

Nigel M

You need to find a job as a trade assistant, and then undertake a training agreement, which will mean attending TAFE. The qualification is Certificate III in Refrigeration and Electrotechnology. You will need a refrigerant handling (ARCTick licence and a restricted electrical licence). Usually takes 4 years. Wages can be low depending on area. Qualified technicians approx $55-60,000 or so. The problem is that I believe you have to work full time and the student visa will not allow it, but I would check with someone on the site. Try and contact George Lombard or Alan Collett as they will know the ins and outs of all this as they are migration specialists.
