Reduction Of Visas For I.T. Professionals
Hi, someone posted some very interesting information about the removal of many I.T. jobs from the skills in demand list.
I've been trying to find this info to no avail.
Please could whoever posted it send it to me.
AND If there are any I.T. people from Melbourne reading this can you advise what the situation for employment is currently like. My husbands skills are as follows:
Analyst/Programmer. Specialises in Oracle 9i (Forms & Reports), SQL, and web-based development such as XHTML/MySQL/Apache/PHP also Java applets. Worked in a variety of sectors such as communications, healthcare, IT Consultancy, marketing, reinsurance & aerospace
BCS member and ACS approved.
Thanks

Have you tried using the search engine caroline? I've been keeping an eye out in this area as my husband is also in IT. I noticed it first in the immigration forum. Apparently, IT jobs have been removed from the MODL, but are still on the skills in demand list. There are some links on previous threads, but I don't even think it has actually come into force yet, but will do soon.
Hope this helps.

Noodle,
Yes, have tried the search engine but the link I'm looking for wasn't there. This was a very recent posting but so much gets posted so fast on here. Probably the person that posted it is watching the rugby.
At least we have been granted the visa already but it's not much good if you can't get work. We are thinking of all sorts of alternatives...so if anyone needs any childminding, washing/ironing or cleaning doing. I might be able to help!!!!!
Hope everything is ticking away nicely with you....

I'm not sure of the market right now for your hubby's A/P skills. I would say contact one of the agencises and get an idea of demand - me and hubby both worked through Candle IT in Melbourne and they were really good - but I know sometimes people struggle to make contact with agencies from overseas.
Have you checked the job sites (jobserve.com.au and seek.com)
Being called back for rugby....
