Redcliffe is fab! We live in the Scarborough area and love it! It's like a small town within a town so if you like the community feel you'll love it here.

Plenty to do for the kids - beaches, lagoon, parks etc......
Nice cafe culture going on, plenty of bars and eateries.

Plenty of work about for all trades - always a little bit of a commute from Reddy because it's a peninsula but that's a small price to pay for living here.

Owt else you need to know just shout.

No idea about schools as we are child free - seem to be OK from what I can gather though.

Takes 40 mins to Bris on a good run, up to an hour and a half in rush hour!

We live in Redcliffe and love it. Our children go to Scarborough State school and we are quite happy with it. Children are happy there too. There are a few other good schools on the peninsular both state and private.

Wehave been thinking about Redcliffe too is there a train link to the CBD and roughly how long does it take? Are there many businesses in that area that may have IT positions.

Thanks

I have just come across the Scarborough area and it looks great Think it is just what we are looking for, my husband is in IT so would prob be working in Brisbane so i'm a bit bothered about the commute - although he isnt says its gotta be better than here House prices look a bit more affordable in this area? Excited....now just need to get house on the market

There is no train from Redcliffe - if there was I'm sure house prices would be higher! There is a new bridge being built at the moment though so commute time will get better eventually.

Would hazard a guess that there's not many IT positions around that area but others will be able to advise you better than me.

You're right - no IT companies round here. You need to be in the CBD for that. As for the new bridge easing traffic, don't think that will make much difference, it's the MWay that's the real pain!

House prices aint too cheap around here either - probably more pricey than a lot of areas nearby to be honest!

Still a great place to be though

No train from Redcliffe but you can catch the bus and get the train from Sandgate, or drive to Boondal, just over the bridge and catch the train there. I sometimes do the latter when I have to get to the CBD. Bus and train about one hour. Car and train about 50 minutes.

hiya ,
found this thread really interesting as i've got a job in redcliffe hospital & HOPE to be there in mid june...been thinking of looking at the scarborough area for rentals & checking out scarborough state school (& maybe humpybong) when we get there...depending on reputation & rentals in the areas....is scarborough a good/friendly school...we've two kids of 6 & 9 so obviously finding a decent school is really important to help them settle in.
We're really excited about the move but seems to be taking SOOOO long just now...redcliffe hospital had forgotten to start my sponsorship application:curse::curse: so thats added 2 months on to our wait :curse::curse:
BUT we'll get over EVENTUALLY
any info would be appreciated.
