IT recruitment companies- help needed?
Hi,
I will be coming over to Australia at the end of April to look for employment in and around Brisbane. Can anyone recommend a good ‘IT’ recruitment company please. I'm hoping to get a 457 visa.
Or any advice on getting a job would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I am in the same situation, but on a 417 Visa. If anyone could please advise.
I specialise working in schools, so i would like to be in that area but not essential.
Thank You

I'm using the recruitment company 'Seek', are there any other good ones?
Any advice welcome!
Thanks

Seek isn't a recruitment company really, it's a website used by recruitment companies.
The biggest problem you have is having no visa. It would be pointless & a waste of your time applying to the vast majority of the jobs on Seek for that reason.
You would probably be best approaching recruitment agents & explaining that you are looking for a sponsor. As this is probably a long shot I wouldn't be too choosy about which ones.

Ha ha - seek the recruitment company. Come on man. You work in IT.
You need to get on google and do a search on here first.
As BC World says its definitely possible to get a visa but most recruiment co's will not bother with you as you're not here and you don't have a visa. So get used to rejection. Lots of people do get work here before coming over though, and some companies will interview you via skype etc and sort your visa out before you land. Depends what your role is etc. Lets face it - if they can get someone here who has the same skills they will.

We did get there just before Xmas which is probably the worst time to be looking for work mind.
If you keep at it then it's possible. But you need plenty of money to keep you going when you get there and start applying as accommodation, beer and food isn't cheap. You also need to be able to handle rejection - or in the vast majority of cases no response.

Here is a little bit of my experience
First of all I am a 175 PR Visa holder with MCSE MCITP EA and others. I am currently in the UK.
Before I had my visa it was a total no go
Since having my visa AND a date to be back in Australia (different story too long for here) I have been appliying for as many as 10 positions a day. Out of that I probably get replies from about 10% mostly saying I need to be in Australia. However I have just had two interviews so it is possible.
The point of this post is, without a visa I think you won't stand much of a chance in IT unless maybe you find a regoinal vacancy that can't be filled.
But good luck anyway

It's possible but hard. I arrived in Sydney a few years ago on a WHV with a friend. We both started applying for IT work. After 4-5 weeks I gave up and took telesales work. He kept going for another 3 weeks or so and landed a short term low paid role. However that then led to another which led to sponsorship.

He's a great recruiter and has in the past listed new immigrants as an area he works with. However, don't be surprised if with no visa you get no response.
