Recommendations sought for shipping companies from USA to Australia
Hi,
We've recently been granted permanent residence in Australia and are looking to move there early 2005. We're starting to research shipping companies and would appreciate your advice as to who to contact (and potentially engage) and who to avoid.
Any other information that you could supply such as:
the volume of goods shipped,
the cost of shipping,
the cost of insurance,
the period it took to ship,
items you should have shipped instead of buying them in Australia,
items that are not worth shipping,
etc...
is also appreciated.
Many thanks,
NewJerseyToOz

Crown Relocations tend to do corporate moves so were priced a bit higher but what is putting us off is the rather indifferent attitude that their estimator displayed when he came around to inventory our apartment.
Who have you decided to go with and why?

Best quote is $5270 from New Jersey to Sydney for a 20-foot container from Sterling International. Fully comprehensive insurance will probably set us back another $700 or so and I'd estimate an additional $200-300 for storage. We're leaning towards Sterling International because of: price and the high level of service we've experienced thus far.

(do you get an alert when someone replies to you....how do we find our string without using search?)
the co. is UPakWeShip.com the rate for the shipment of one 20-foot ocean container is $4400.00 from pa to perth and a 40-foot container is $5700.00 , but we will have to pack and load the container, their overseas agent will unload and unpack the container .
hope this will help you
