All I can say is seeing as we're closest , tell me when and where and we'll become the "MADSAD POSSE " !!
When you guys get through all of this , visa and medicals incompetency , you will know more then ever , that nothing will be able to bring you down.
They say it takes a special person to be an ex-pat , but sounds like you guys were there already.

Donna & Malcolm - my heart sank as I was reading what happened to you and Andrew. What the woman did was unforgivable! I can't imagine what you're going through... 
Anyway, being a geek, and married to a geek, I did a little search and found another "clinical psychologist" with the same name, also Hon Lecturer at U.of Glasgow, AND a governor of Loretto...

I can completely understand you not wanting to complain, I expect that you feel that everything has sapped your strength and you have nothing left to give.
However - in a society where it seems noone wants to stand and be counted this is something that you contribute.
Firstly:
Put an account of what happened in writting both to her and the Nuffield, detailing how disatisfied you are. Here I would like to mention that that fact that you are not your sons biological father will have nothing to do with his condition! Therefore why she felt the need to make the comment is beyond me.
Then find out what proffesional associations they might be a member of and report the incident to them. The nuffied should be able to confirm this for you.
I really do wish you all luck with this, remember that often we move forward in a way that feels right at the time. There is no shame in what you did for the best of your child, explain your motivation to him.

I have had experience of how insensitive these so called 'professionals' can be! Makes me bloody mad, they are at the top of their chosen profession getting paid a small furtune for their so called expert services, but they still need to learn how to deal with people! Ridiculous!
Why are they so untactful and oblivious when it comes to dealing with peoples feelings - what she did is totally unexceptable - but unfortunately yours was probably not the first time she has acted in this manner and will more than likely not be the last! Makes my blood boil!
It was your choice when and if to say anything - I hope you are all ok.
As for 'Dads' post well, my eyes just swelled up reading it, well said Dad

I like the many others who have posted am completly speechless, no words can take away the pain you must both feel.
This woman should be seriously disciplined, humiliating you in front of your son and then having the cheek to count the money in front of you
You have both shown tremendous restrain by not physically harming this usless turd! She is of course suppossed to be an educated proffessional.
I know you both have alot on your plate but find the time to report this thing just to stop it happening to some other poor family.
As for you both you have obviously raised Andrew to be a lovely caring lad and even if DNA says you are not his biological father you are his DAD.
You sound like great people who are off to enjoy the rest of their lives with their family.
Good luck and hopefully the visa will arrive soon!
And don`t forget `what comes around goes around` that cow will get her day!!
