Default Rates of Pay

Hi

Can anyone tell me what

"Rates of Pay according to Engineering award (State) 2002" might mean.

Is this something like Minimum wage??

If so can anyone enlighten me what this is ?? (just incase it makes a difference the job is for a Qualified Welder)

Thanks

A welder depending on what sort of welder, mig /tig stainless, pipe, etc

Would earn in a factory setting on a dayshift around $25- $28 an hour. More for other more skilled welding. More for onsite welding ie structural.

Most welders here are pretty good, can do mig / tig / arc and stainless etc.

Thanks for that. So if a job advertised had the phrase

"Rates of Pay according to Engineering award (State) 2002"

they would be offering along the lines of 25-28 Aus Dollars ?? Is that right?

You will find the Queensland Engineering Award - State 2002 at: http://www.qirc.qld.gov.au/agreement...ds/e/e0635.pdf

It is updated with 2008 figures even though dated 2002.

If they pay the Award rates, then that is effectively the minimum wage for that trade sector.

Thanks very much for the link.

That is what I thought it might mean!

Cheers
