Wow, what a bargain! :)

In my experience, people are often too quick to judge a house by its decor; they forget that this is one of the easiest things to change.

If the structure is sound, the living space sufficient and the location ideal, there is no good reason to turn down a place which looks a bit scruffy but is otherwise spot on.

There are plenty of great houses to be had for very reasonable money - heck, you've just proved it here! - but I suspect that many people just want to move straight into a place without the added work of renovation.

There's nothing wrong with this, of course - but having made that decision, they should expect to pay over the odds for the convenience of a house which doesn't require any workl. :)

Worth checking out I reckon - that way I could have my dream house by the time I retire !!

Now I haven't read anymore of this thread, however, I am riled that people with £130K to take are 'worrying'!!

We will be lucky to scrape £5k together to go with!!!

Yes, that's a fair point - provided that the principle is applied correctly.

As you can see from my own post, I was comparing a house in Willenhall with houses in places like Happy Valley and Blackwood - which are no more than 18-21km from the Adelaide CBD, and simply loaded with all the usual amenities like a local shopping centres, schools, etc. So there we have a pretty good case of "like for like", with the two Aussie suburbs proving to be far better value than their UK counterpart.

I certainly wouldn't compare Willenhall with Butler; that would be quite unreasonable.

Pub life doesn't really enter the equation as far as I'm concerned, because to me, a good lifestyle will stand by its own merits; it shouldn't be judged by the ease with which alcohol is locally available. I drink, but I've never been a pub person and prefer to live as far from them as possible.

BTW, I don't know who would really want to live 5km from Perth city; that would be my worst nightmare!

Dennis: What I object to is you automatically treat me like an inferior.
King Arthur: Well I am king.
Dennis: Oh, king eh? Very nice. And how'd you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers. By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society.

Naaah, there was once someone else on here (who shall remain nameless), moaning that they won't be morgage free coz they were taking about £200,000 :scared: , so I started a poor people thread, and believe me there is quite a few of us around :D ,although I am not quite as poor as you ;)

Anyway I don't care how much/little people take, but don't moan about taking over £100,000 or more ffs,

Hi Carol,

Am in Kilmarnock,

And no, haven't go a job, but not really worried about that, will worry nearer the time (on the last lap of the visa, I hope!!!!).
One of the reasons of not going to Perth, was i want to have alot of job choice , not forced into one for the sake of it, coz am already in a nursing job just now for the sake of it, and want one i like, like i had in the past :( :D

A pedant is someone who likes everything to be accurate, all the time. "Compulsive corrector" is another way of putting it. :)
