Quinns Rocks Education
Hi, I'm hoping to be out in Perth towards back end of this year and looking at settling in Quinns Rocks due to budget etc and cost of housing. My worry is that although there seems to be plenty of primary schools in the Quinns area the only High school seems to be Clarkson High school which ( from what i've read both on here and other sources ) seems to have a bit of a reputation. I realise that sometimes reputations are unjust but when you are 11,000 miles away it's extremely hard to get a balanced view. I would appreciate any comments but if possible from experience rather than from hearsay.
Many thanks in advance

If you have academic aspirations for your kids I'd avoid it.
I wouldn't send my kids there.

There are no state schools in that area which I'd recommend. If it was me (and it might be me) I'd move house.
State schools worth a look are Shenton College, Applecross, Rossmoyne, Willeton, Churchlands. None of these are in the northern northern suburbs.

If you do a search on here you'll find many posts on this (I'm saying this because I've posted many times and usually end up getting into trouble)

Still have a couple of years before we have to worry about this (daughter is 10)
With regard to private high schools, are there many decent ones, who's fees would be considered affordable to a family on an average income?
I appreciate this is subjective, but just trying to get a rough idea.

Whether you want to send your children to these schools is a different matter. Again it depends on what you want - academic results? Sport?

Just to add to this, Peter Moyes - according to govt data, has results below the state average. There may be good reasons for this but paying 3-4K for this level of achievement seems dodgy.

Certainly for St Stephens and St Marks I was too late 3 years ago. It is my biggest stress at the moment.

She will be starting high school in Feb and we still dont no where she is going.
I have just phoned Peter Moyes who say they still have spaces, but with the the fees and reading that its not very good is stressing me out also.
She has friends going to both of these schools, but really wants to go to Irene Mc cormack. Doesnt want to go to Clarkson as no one she knows is going there .
