Quick Q Re: Shipping Electrical Items

Hi all, I'm at the tail end of my packing now - thankfully I've only packed a couple of electrical items so far and I've just noticed on my paperwork that part of my agreement is to declare all electrical items with detail on the paperwork... I can't find any info on this anywhere - what info do they need, is it just make, model no, serial no, etc???

Thanks in advance.

Emma

This must be a new requirement, we shipped all sorts of electrical equipment when we moved 3 years ago. Is the request on an Australian customs or quarantine form or is it for insurance ?

On the Acceptance, Declaration and Order Form I have to sign from the shippers, point 3 is that "I have declared all electrical items with detail on the Packing Inventory" - now, obviously I have declared everything on the packing inventory so clearly they want a bit more information for electrical items - or that's just how I'm interpreting it. I just don't know exactly what info they want.

Never heard of it before - sounds like a shippers requirement rther than an Aussie import requirement?

This is not required to bring your possessions to Australia so ask the shippers what information they need and why.

It's probably to make it easier for their warfies to steal your good gear, saves them time opening boxes full of clothes etc.

It's probably for the shippers only so if you have an insurance claim they know what electrical goods you had. It might be a pain for me though with all the electrical goods we're taking!
