Default Question for the Self Employed

Normally you have to keep all paper work for 7 years I think. What happens when you emigate? Do you still have to keep it and take the whole lot with you incase the Inland Revenue want to investigate you from the otherside of the world?

Hi Surfer Chick,

My husband has arranged for a family member to store them for us. We were advised to do so by our accountant who is also an x district inspector of taxes (so he knows his stuff) and it is 7 years. If you're VAT registered then thats double the reason. Hope this helps,

Lee-Louise
