while filling out the tra application did anyone use photographs/sketches/technical drawings for giving examples of work expeirence?

is it something that is recommended or is it a waste of time?

any other advice is very welcome

I know a few that have and they passed.

We didn't send any, and we passed too.

I wouldn't say it was a waste of time, if you feel that they will add weight to your application then go for it

My OH is a gasfitter and submitted photographs of boiler and gas fire installations he had completed, with tra application.
He passed...don't know if it helps but as Wendy said, can't do any harm (unless you're crap!!) and might make all the difference.
Who knows...good luck tho...it's a nailbiter!
