Question re: travellers cheques???
 

Can anybody please tell me if you can spend travellers cheques in shops in
oz like you can in other countries, or do you have to change them up in a
bank?

What I understood from previous quote:
You can carry both, but if you encash TCs in Bank then there is charge.... I remember JTL once said he used TCs in some storage/ mall. so whatever I am carry more tc's with me then cash.. :)

So are you saying that you can pay for goods in shops with them?

Haven't used them in Cairns but we did spend some TC in Sydney a few years back.

I found in Brisbane that they wouldn't accept them as payment, but I get american express tc from Lloyds bank ( as they offer the best rate ) and these can be cashed free at amex offices or it only costs me $6 to pay them into my bank account.

Even hotel and hostels accept it... One of the hotel offered me to make a booking :)
