Default Question for Aussie health workers

I know BE has a few of you.

I'm wondering what the situation is with the super bugs in Aussie hospitals. Is it as bad as UK? If I were to have elective surgery, where would be the safest place?

Thanks! Q

I picked up an infection in hospital post surgery and had a weeping wound for almost 8 years and faced amputation

Thankfully a plastic surgeon who advertises on this site came to the rescue; after 13 hours in theatre .......... an artery transplant and micro-surgery...... followed by a fair while in ICU............... all is okay now.

No complaints as every day is a bonus for me............ shouldn't be here really.

Bobcat, what can I say, what an experience, and for so many years!

Thank goodness you eventually got your life back!

Another top mark for the BE website for putting you in contact with the surgeon.

It seems incredible that we can't get a grip on these dreadful infections.

Thanks for sharing that experience Bobcat. It puts my problems into perspective. Q
