Default Question to all you builders out there...

Hi,

Following on from my run of bizarre questions for the forum...

Can any builders (either in OZ or UK) tell me

a) How easy and b) Ball park costs

for putting up a partitioning wall in my house in OZ. I have a very long lounge and want to partition one end off to create effectively an office alcove.

I assume the partion wall would simply by a wooden frame construction with plaster board either side, but I might be wrong.

The width of the wall is approx 2 1/2 to 3 meters and the height is just normal ceiling height.

Any ideas how easy and how much?

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi Dave

I can't put in a wall. But I could install a rotary washing line in the lounge room if you want. Wait till I get to Aus Though

Hi Dave, my hubby is a plasterer and he would do the whole job, supply and fix for £200.00 thats if you're house is in Brissie as that is where we're off to!

As No Such said, bout £100.00 in materials etc , Joist centres should be approx 400mm . Create a pallet frame on floor, lift into place , fix to ceiling joists and shimmy up, fix to wall/floor. Install plasterboard , cpl coats skim sorted ! easy peasy.. lob a bit of skirting on !

Be prepared for daft quotes lol

Normal rates in Brissy, 1 days work 1 man. + materials expect to pay $500 -$800 depending how well you make Coffee Perths a different matter

My hubby's half way through doing such a job to make a study area in the lounge room. Ours is abit more complicated though as has a window in it too to let light in. Will ask how much it's cost so far when I see him next. Ours has also got insulation in the wall cavity between plaster boards to reduce noise.
