Question about police checks
Have just had medicals done and sent off police checks. Only problem is a few years ago I had a conviction for drink driving which has obvoiusly come up on police checks. Does anyone have any similar issues and did it prevent the application being successful? Or any information regarding police checks?
Many thanks in advance.

Exactly what 'pen said
FWIW, here's the official stance on it;
What is the character requirement?
Everyone who wishes to enter Australia must be of "good character". To be of "good character", applicants must pass the character test. An applicant will not pass the character test if:
they have a substantial criminal record; or
an association with a person or group that is suspected to have been or is involved in criminal conduct; or
due to the applicant's past and present criminal and/or general conduct, that applicant is not of good character; or
there is significant risk that if the applicant were to enter or remain in Australia they would engage in:
criminal conduct; or
harass another person in Australia; or
vilify a segment of the Australian community; or
incite discord in the Australian community; or
become involved in activities that are disruptive or bring harm to the Australian community or a segment of that community.
