Yeah I don't see why not, it's about both of you, I like to take my OH anyway as he remembers a lot more than I do, i'll forget most of it before I get out the door

Finally got my application together. Just spoke to them and they told me if I get it in quick, they might be able to organise an early interview with me when they come over.

That's excellent. Don't use Fedex to courier your stuff, they can't deliver a package if there's a PO box number! It's only because we tracked the application that we knew it was sitting at Brisbane airport instead of being delivered. We had to sort it out this end, because the Fedex office in Brisbane couldn't work it out. You'd think QAS might be a reasonably well known established building! Anyhoo, got there in the end.

Its not known as QAS - the main HQ is part of Dept of Emergency Services, and a lot of recruitment applications go through Shared Services which is a govt agency covering several departments. That probably explains the lack of delivery

Have you been given PO Box 1425 or a different one?

Aah, that would explain it! We sent it to the address they gave us, but it was back in May and I can't remember what it was now.

They are going to the wonderful shared govt agency that stuffs up the pay 3 weeks out of 4 then, rather than to QAS HQ itself. That would definitely have caused confusion as even if Fedex had worked out that QAS were part of the Dept Emergency Services, they wouldn't have known about the SSA connection.
SSA deal with pay and recruitment for several different govt derpartments.

There is a guy in my service who has just has his career break extended by another year. He is on an A4C 'educational' career break in Amb service of NZ.

Is that thirty thousand dollars pay cut?? For all road staff? Has it happened previously, I mean do they run out of money at year end as they do here and cut overtime? This is a bit of a gobsmacker. Tell me more...

Same has happened in NSW. Where they used to be paid OT rates until a further break was given when they had a disturbed meal break, they now just get 1 hours OT payment if disturbed on either of the 2 half hour breaks in 12 hr shift. ALL other OT rates remain plus they have had their jobs evaluated and had a 10-13% basic pay increase.
I have been recently RPL'd as a Specialist Paramedic (ICP) in NSW and when there for my interview, I was told my starting salary at this level would be $62,300. With the amount of overruns etc. and few shifts of OT, I would think $80,000 is still easily achievable.
Plus, this increase in basic salary is pensionable unlike all the penalty payments.
There is NO WAY on earth that an organization can CUT someone's basic pay. The basic wage will probably go up and some of the penalties like the meal break one will go out the window which will effect some more than others.

Thanks Swigski, that's more reassuring. By the way what's RPL? I've got interviews lined up with WA and QAS in the next 2 weeks or so. You wait ages then 2 come along at once! Be handy to have some idea of the clinical questions you were asked at your int...
