Most of the hotels being used in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast are 4/5 stars. They are expected to provide a reasonable standard of food, and at present all of them will allow people to order in and get deliveries such as toiletries, just have to organise it with Reception at the individual hotel.
You are met at the airport, fill in forms etc and are escorted onto buses to whichever hotel is taking the passengers in that day. You are restricted generally to your room in the hotel, and anything delivered to you is brought up to your room, as are the meals.
There's a large team of people working with the hotels to try and make the necessary quarantine as painless as possible for everyone, and any problems are being dealt with as quickly as possible.
I know I probably sound biased but I work alongside the team that is responsible for keeping track of who is where and what needs paying for etc, so I've got a reasonable insight into the process.
I also have a mate who came back into the country via a Sydney hotel, he was extremely unimpressed by the whole process down there, and I have to say it sounds more organised up here.

Absolutely no idea, sorry. You may even find that some States retain it longer than others but at present it really is a "how long is a piece of string" question.

That really depends on the rest of the world. Maybe they might start putting countries in a bubble. They are talking NZ first.

Not sure how that would determine a "safe" country, then had to figure out if people from an infected country used the safe country as a layover.

I can't see the UK being near the top of the "Safe" list. Still a few thousand new infections, and a few hundred deaths every day, and with the sun out in the UK, social distancing goes right out the window.

4 and 5 star, in Brisbane CBD, and on the Gold Coast. Also some hotels near the airport. I can't give you individual hotel names I'm afraid, I'm sure the names are out there of at least some of the places, but my role doesn't allow me to post that sort of thing openly myself, sorry

Yeah. ScoMo has said as much right from the start. Western Australia has had an explosion of cases this week - about two dozen - all from overseas (not just the sheep ship) and all tested positive while in quarantine. Just served to underscore what will happen almost immediately if the borders get opened. It makes no sense to open the borders just because it is under control here. It has to be under control elsewhere for the borders to open.

Well ..... there is the second wave. Northern hemisphere summers, protests, looting, and looking at the Iranian second wave, good luck avoiding a quarantine in the short term.
