Hi there, we are new to this forum and we really want to know if the need for Quantity Surveyors is needed in Australia at this time?

We live in the South East of England at present but are seriously wanting a new start this year. Nearly left in 2008 for New Zealand but the house sale (and therefore our money) fell through and along came the recession.

New Zealands pay is somewhat RUBBISH, so hope someone can help

OH is a QS. We applied mid Oct 2009 and Case Officer assigned early Jan 10. quite a few other QS's on timeline sites seeing quick processing too so there is a need although the role in Oz sometimes termed Contract Administration. Just waiting for medicals to be reviewed in Adelaide then hopefully off later this year to validate the VISA

I'm doing my degree at the minute and plan on moving out there when I've graduated.

The majority of PQS firms in Perth seem to be recruiting. Check individual companies websites rather than generic job sites.

There is a list of companies on the AIQS site above.

My husband's a QS. We've been in Sydney for 3 months, he found a job ad in the UK Building Magazine which was placed by an Australian firm who were recruiting in the UK. He had an interview in London, got the job and they sponsored us and paid for the relocation. Might be worth keeping an eye on that magazine as well as all relevant recruitment websites and major companies' sites.
