All depends on ones point of view, I guess

But I wouldn't give this place up, even if it meant a gold plated season ticket, and a 100 pct win factor for eternity.

Viewing the old teams is getting easier now (even in the lesser divs )

Good weather coming in Melbourne, so things are looking up after a crewel, result.

You see, I didn't even realise West Ham were playing Crewe this weekend, although I do know the Western Bulldogs first game is against Collingwood at the MCG on March 28th

And while the Hammers are giving it their worst, I'll probably be somewhere in the Port Fairy/Warrnambool area soaking up the sights of the Victoria Coast.

Things will be more interesting when West Ham and Palace are in the same division again and we can talk on an even footing...shouldn't be too long ....and I don't see us going up....

Great to hear alot of you enthuse about oz, from the messages it seems that saying same sh!t shinnier bucket, the bumps in life are dealt with against a better background. I mean that if life kicks you here, and the sky is dull and everyone else is miserable, etc it seems harder to cope with it.

Can't wait to visit sydney and see that bridge, as my great uncles were stone masons who were brought over to work on the foundations, and they never left.

It reminded me of a rhyme my friend used to love;

Man is but a fool
When it's hot he wants it cool
When it's cool he wants it hot
Always wanting what it's not
Man is such a fool!

I haven't been here long, but feel as I been here forever if you know what I mean - I feel so happy and comfortable here. As well as that feeling, I also get those feelings of 'WOW' - often when I'm returning home (isn't that a nice word) and I round a bend on the freeway and see the CBD and the Westgate Bridge in front of me. Lots of other times/places make me thrilled, but that is a lovely, warm feeling of satisfaction, excitment and belonging.

To make things even better today, my boss has told me that I can go down to 4 days a week as soon as I get PR which I have applied for - hopefully won't be too long as don't need meds/pcc as valid still - and I'm a nurse (here on 457 at present)
So I'll have more time to enjoy this wonderful country.

Yes but she couldn't hold the camera still.

Janice she even went into the Puma tent on the pretence of buying footy boots so she could get her feet measured up by David Hill & Rama etc

Was a good day though.

K sent to G'day - tried to K Merlot, but have to spread some more first.

Now all I need is for DIMIA to crack on! If they would only just look at my file they would see what an easy job they would have - no meds or PCC - just a signature.

Got in fom work today - collapsed in a heap for a bit - then went down the road for a slice of cake and a coffee at a sidewalk cafe at 8.30 at night.
Cannot do that too often on an Autumn evening in England - in fact would stuggle to do that any time of the year in England !!

Love the outdoor culture here - you don't have to be sporty to enjoy it - but of course, if you are there is plenty to do - we passed an openair, floodlit tennis courts where there was lessons going on - and thats apart from all the daytime stuff.

Maybe it's the inviting culture and weather, but maybe also it's the fact that we feel more motivated and invigorated than we did in England.

Lovely stuff

Hey there Cas

Really enjoyed your post this morning. Just what I needed. Was so amazing really, as I received an email from my sister-in-law this morning saying that they had also gone to the Woomba Waterfest and that my niece had played the lead in a show put on by the organisers (all impromptu) and then danced hip-hop with the dancers. They had a fab time (all free except for the train journey which she said was surprisingly uncrowded) and looking out of my dreary window, I was as jealous as hell. We spent a fabulous christmas week at Aireys Inlet exploring the great ocean road and just reading about it from you made me realise just why we made the decision to move there. I loved the 12 apostles and also Apollo Bay. We spent nearly four weeks there and it was the most relaxed I have ever been (holidays included). We are so ready to ditch our detached house in the leafy suburbs to spend more quality time together as a family - something we lost a long time ago. We are in the early early stages of our application, but boy we cannot wait!!

Good luck with your sale.

I would so agree with this statement. I don't know what it is but since we made the decision to move to Oz, things have just gone right for us. My hubby was made redundant two weeks ago and the next day he found something better and better paid; as part of his redundancy package he got a consultation with a management firm that specialises in helping you to re-evaluate your career and CV and find you a job etc and would you believe it, they have a branch in Melbourne, where we are going, and are happy to transfer the consultation, getting our documentation together has been relatively pain free and everything just seems to be going according to plan. I am even finding parking spaces (and that never happens to me !). My sister says it is because we are more positive and she can sense how bright we feel our future is going to be. Having emigrated before (from SA to UK) we are not going into it with rose tinted glasses, but are looking forward to stress free quality living.

Didn't realise until I returned to the UK how much I missed that, you are right, not a great deal of that in my neck of the woods here in the UK. The choice tends to be pub or restaurant! Both smokey and quite often expensive.
