Question QLD vs Orana NSW? Need Urgent Advise for SC475 Application

Hi All

I got Skilled Regional State Nomination Letters from both Gladstone-Queensland and Orana-NSW regions.

Can any body advise me which region is best for a Mechanical Engineer from following point of views? (I have rich experience of Fertilizer and Oil/Gas Sectors):
1. Which region has more Mosques for Muslims to observe daily prayers?
2. Job opportunities for experienced Mechanical Engineer?
3. From Schooling point of view, which region has more and cheeper school?
4. Availability of HALAL food for Muslims family?
5. As the Visa SC475 is a provisional and Temporary Visa, so which region is more favourable for such Visa Applicants?

I would appreciate if someone urgently guide me, as now I am confused for which region I have to lodge my DIAC online Application?

Regards

Don't know how comprehensive this list is http://www.afic.com.au/?p=1683 but it doesn't look like there are too many mosques outside of the Sydney/Wollongong/Newcastle corridor.

The only ones I could see are in Broken Hill and Young (neither of which are in the Orana region). Don't appear to be any in Gladstone either.

I would imagine that if you find a mosque, then you'll probably find Halal food somewhere nearby.

Gladstone is an industrial area. Have you googled Gladstone? http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...ih=583&cad=cbv

If you are looking for mosques the best place would be Saudi Arabia!
You may find a mosque in each square centimeter!

What is wrong with someone asking where he and his family will be able to worship? Would you tell me to move to Israel if I asked where there were synogogues in Australia? Or the Vatican if I asked where there were Catholic churches?

QLDlover,

You are a Senior Member of this forum, you should take more care about the Norms of such forums.

Please avoid to give such type of comments...it might hurt someone feelings...or it could open the door of un-healthy arguments...

If you don't want to help anyone then its better to keep quite.

As this thread is more about where to live than how to apply for a visa, I am moving it to the main Australia forum.

Hi
First of all I am not intending to start a religious debate here as it is only a immigration forum
As I see your first and most important factor for the place of residence is being close to a mosque!
If you are that much concerned regarding your religion then why are you moving to Australia.
You may see many things that are against your Islamic beliefs such as naked women, bars, dancing and so on. Arent' they Koffar in Islam?
I'm surprised to see that women are executed for having sex in Islamic counties because it is against Islamic rules nonmuslims are deemed to be dirty in Islam, Hijab is compulsory in Islam and at last westerns must follow islamic rules when they are in Islamic countries, but you expect western countries to accept your rules like Hijab when you are in their country !
I really cannot understand what you are looking for!
That's why I advices you to look for a good place in Saudi Arabia cus it must suit your beliefs.
Regards

It's not unreasonable to question your reasoning, moving to a predominately Christian country, when two of your questions about moving to Australia involve elements of your religion. If your religion is that important to you, then you might find Australia is the wrong place for you.

^^ what he said, AND to add a general observation -- you will find Australians to be quite straight forward and much less politically correct as it were. If you can not handle an anonymous comment on the internet board without getting worked up and reprimanding a poster for being Senior member (?? which has to do with number of posts alone and nothing else), consider a possibility of interacting with a whole bunch of people whose values are way different to yours -- as far as religious beliefs go as well as many other things.

If you can not handle that, weigh this up against any kind of job and living conditions, and you will see that it is not worth it. You will be under a constant stress as in swimming against current, and will end up doing stupid things to yourself, it is just a question of time.

Unless you already decided to live the middle of your compatriots, never leaving, in which case ignore what we say and carry on.

I think the OP should also remember that he would be moving to regional Australia, which is very different from city life. The main cities are slightly more accepting of different cultures and beliefs, but smaller rural communities are often more suspicious of strangers and it may be harder to settle. Not saying its impossible, but definitely harder......
